I love the blog UCreate, they are always showing off the greatest tutorials and other projects from around blog land. If you haven't checked it out, you should! So many great ideas. She also posts a monthly project that everyone can join in and put their own spin on. For October it was THIS fall burlap wreath tutorial.
I love how she used burlap, but I already had a fall wreath so I thought I would go the Christmas route instead. I didn't know until I looked at Hobby Lobby that they have different colors of burlap, I love this red!
This was SO EASY to make, it took no time. I cut long strips of the burlap, about 4" then wrapped the whole thing with the light color. Then went back over it with the red. Let me just tell you, the burlap gets everywhere when you are cutting it! It sheds like crazy!! I was cleaning up red fuzzies for a few days. :)
For the flowers, I used the same technique as you would for a felt flower, the burlap is a little harder to work with, but with hot glue you can get it to stay in place. The original tutorial shows exactly how she did her flowers. I put tape on the back of the flowers so I could arrange and rearrange them until I liked it.
I can't wait for Thanksgiving to be over so I can put it up, I want to let my fall wreath get a good run too :)
Cute! I love the red burlap!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I LOVE your wreath. Really, I do. I was about to go all crazy and switch up my Christmas colors to Cinnamon and Slate... but seeing that wreath is giving me second thoughts. I love the traditionalness (ha, not even a word!) is so sweet!!
